Madulain – Have you ever watched fresh milk being turned into cheese and other products? At Alp Es-cha Dadour, you can see as an overnight guest the cheesemakers at work. Or simply relax on the sun terrace, enjoy homemade specialties, and soak in the peace of the surrounding mountains.

You can also stay overnight in a single or double room, with the sunrise over Madulain and the gentle ringing of cowbells welcoming your morning.

Alp Es-cha Dadour is located at 2,063 metres above sea level and can be reached on in about one hour from Madulain and around 1.5 hours from Zuoz It’s also the starting point for numerous hiking trails.

Cheese-making demonstrations: Cheese-making demonstrations are offered upon request for groups and overnight guests.

Celerina - Alp Laret in Celerina is nestled among lush meadows, about a 30-minute walk from the Marguns mountain station. Here, the alpine herdswoman creates homemade specialties with passion and creativity. The milk from the cows is processed on-site into Mutschlis, butter, yogurt, and ricotta.

The alp is located along the family-friendly themed trail «Alp Adventure with Mevina and Neves», which is suitable for strollers.

Our tip: Visit the alp on Sundays when live music brings a lively atmosphere for locals, second-home residents, and guests alike.

Sils –This largely traffic-free Val Fex is known for its well-developed network of hiking trails. Those who follow the hiking paths or the bike trails reach the Alps «Alp da Segl» and «Alp Muot Selvas» at the end of the valley. The Oberholzer family from South Tyrol manages both farms, set amid open meadows, shady woodland, and rushing mountain streams.

«Alp da Segl» is a simple mountain hut, reached on the final stretch via a short but steep path. A little further down the valley, about a two-hour walk from the centre of Sils, guests find «Alp Muot Selvas». With clear mountain views, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Particularly popular at both farms are the homemade delights: fresh cheese with tomato and basil, yoghurt, and of course Kaiserschmarrn - all best enjoyed on the sun terrace.

Samedan – Alp Muottas sits at 2,453 metres above sea level, offering sweeping views of the Engadin lakes and the Bernina massif, including the striking Biancograt ridge. Grazing Angus cattle, with their glossy coats, also catch the eye. They belong to the Niggli Angus Farm in Samedan and spend their summer days high above the Engadin, just a five-minute walk from the Muottas Muragl mountain station.

Alp Muottas offers a range of delights, including Angus products, mountain cheese, dumplings, and sweet Kaiserschmarrn. Locals would describe it as «pachific» - truly cozy and welcoming.

Surrounded by hiking trails, Alp Muottas is an ideal stop along your journey. A particularly rewarding hike leads to the remote Val Champagna.

Zuoz – At 2,115 metres above sea level, more than 200 cattle spend the summer on Alp Arpiglia. The Willy family from Zuoz takes care of the animals and warmly welcomes visiting hikers.

The alp can be reached on foot in about 90 minutes via the alpine road. It’s also easily accessible by bike or on horseback. If you’re looking for a scenic full-day hike, take the trail via «Munt Seja» to the mountain lake «Lej da Prastinaun». The steep ascent is rewarded with sweeping views over the Plaiv and the turquoise Inn River. On the way down, Alp Arpiglia is the perfect spot for a well-earned break.

Relax on the sun terrace and let everyday life fade into the background. A local specialty is the homemade Bündner Tatsch served with apple sauce. Wurstsalat, barley soup, and freshly baked bread are also especially delicious here.

Good to know: Every Wednesday from 10.30am to 12.00pm, the Willy family serves a traditional alpine breakfast with cheese, Salsiz, eggs, Zopf, and other bread - by advance reservation.

Samedan – Rumor has it that Alp Muntatsch serves some of the best Kaiserschmarrn around. Fresh dumplings, homemade cakes, and refreshing drinks complete the menu. It’s definitely worth making a stop here during your hike.

The alp lies at the foot of Piz Padella. Up to 200 animals graze here, including mother cows and young stock. Two to three dairy cows and some pigs also spend the summer months on the alp.

Our tip: For experienced hikers, we recommend the tour up Piz Padella. Samedan’s local mountain offers a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view.
