The long slopes are marked red or black and some of them cover more than 800 metres of altitude. The Minor slope is particularly tricky, with an 86% gradient making it the steepest prepared slope in Graubünden. For a less adrenaline-fuelled but more romantic experience, try the fairytale night-time descents in the wintery full moonlight of the ‘Glüna Plaina’ (Rhaeto-Romanic for ‘full moon’).

The Diavolezza-Lagalb area is the starting point for numerous ski tours. If you want to warm up for more ambitious tours but still experience the full magic of powder skiing, then the Diavolezza Challenge should be at the top of your ‘to tour’ list. The classic freeride tour to Val d'Arlas is the most beautiful of all ski tours. The adventure begins at the Diavolezza Firn and leads over the Sass Queder into the steep basin of the Val Arlas. Thanks to the east, north and west exposure, your own personal dream line in the deep snow is revealed here, whatever the position of the sun!

Piz Palü (3900m) is also a dream for ski tourers. The descent down the western flank of the Diavolezza is followed by an easy ascent to the Cambrena-Brüchen, then along a good track through a crevasse zone to the ski depot. Crampons should be used here not only for the slope to the eastern summit, but also for the exposed ridge to the main summit. In perfect conditions, a day trip, but an overnight stay at the Berghaus Diavolezza and an early start with a headlamp is recommended.

Beginners and advanced skiers alike love the short ski tour to Gemsfreiheit, which scores with a fabulous glacier panorama and a long descent. From the Diavolezza mountain station, the route first descends to the Persgletscher, then over to the Fortezzagrat. After a leisurely ascent of around 2 hours, you will reach the Gemsfreiheit (3186 m) and can look forward to the 1300-metre descent towards the Restaurant Morteratsch.

Powder madness in a spectacular setting: The Diavolezza-Lagalb region is a dream come true for freeriders. The terrain is full of variety, with immaculate deep-snow fields and tricky powder slopes that challenge skiers to jump over windswept rocks and wide bands of cornice snow. The 1000-metre couloir, a dream run of superlatives, is particularly spectacular, leading from Gianda Persa down to the Morteratsch Glacier. And talking of superlatives: Switzerland's longest glacier descent also starts at the Diavolezza mountain station. Finally, an insider tip: the La Rösa firn snow descent from the Lagalb mountain station to the La Motta customs house in Valposchiavo.
