Winter Bucket-List Madulain

1. Ice path Madulain-Zuoz
The Madulain ice trail embodies the romantic image of ice skating in a snowy landscape. On two blades, it stretches for approximately 3 kilometers along the Inn River to Zuoz. The trail blends seamlessly into the sun-drenched scenery. Whether romantically hand in hand, pushing a stroller, or pulling a sled behind you – walking up and down the trail is incredibly fun and fills you with joy. And you'll notice – after a few laps, you can cross "exercise" off your daily to-do list – because the fun really gets your legs moving. Weather permitting, full moon skating takes place in January and February – it doesn't get more romantic than that.
2. Ice rink Madulain
For those who can't get enough of ice, the ice rink in the heart of Madulain village is sure to please. It's a place where young and old alike can enjoy themselves – whether spinning pirouettes, playing ice hockey, or curling. This small rink offers exactly what you'd expect from an ice rink – variety and fun.
3. (Dog) Cross-country trail Madulain
In the Plaiv, which Madulain is part of, people have long been into dogs. That is why there are dog trails here, where you can take your four-legged companion along for training and there is no obligation to keep them on a leash. The four dog trails can be found between Samedan and Zuoz. Most of them run along the Inn, which gives them a special charm. The deciduous trees that line the path along the river turn into works of art covered in ice crystals when it is snowy and cold. In such an environment, cross-country skiing is a breeze, because you are driven by the desire to see more. To see more of Madulain.

4. Live in Madulain, ski in Zuoz
If you prefer to just whizz downhill, you might be more of a skier than a cross-country skier. Madulain doesn't have any ski slopes itself, but the Zuoz ski area is just a stone's throw away and offers the perfect offer for beginners, children and experts who prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of the large ski areas.
Nothing stands in the way of skiing fun for the whole family or with friends. The Chastlatsch chairlift is built in such a way that it is also safe for children aged four and over and leads directly from the free car park and the bus stop to the ski area.
A total of five lifts are waiting to take you to the start of the sun-drenched slopes. The Gian Plaiv fun slope, the timed slope and the Snow Park are particularly popular. If you want more slopes to choose from, drive to Celerina, from where you can reach the large Corviglia ski area.

5. Winter hiking, sledging and being
Tobogganing in Madulain goes hand in hand with a winter hike, at least if you want to experience one of the most beautiful toboggan runs that the Engadin has to offer. This leads from the Alp Es-cha Dadour over 3 kilometers back to the village. As mentioned, you have to earn the descent first, but as a real Madulain fan or for those who want to become one - it is a must. The winter hiking trail starts at Madulain train station. You reach the destination in around an hour - with the view of the village and the wide Upper Engadin valley always accompanying you. You don't need to bring a picnic, because it is worth sitting down on the sunny terrace of the Alp Es-cha Dadour and enjoying a soup or a Kaiserschmarren - more than deserved after the climb. Explore the interior of the inn too, because if you like, you can also spend the night here. And don't worry - if you don't have a sled, the landlord is well equipped with rental sleds. Enjoy the ride – we are convinced that it will not be the last time you make this trip.

6. Ski touring
If you come to the Engadin for ski tours, you will also find some real classics in Madulain and the surrounding area. The ski tour to Muntischè (2604 m) starts right in the village. The same goes for the one to Piz Belvair (2821 m). If you want to shorten the climb to the Piz, you can start the tour to the summit in the Zuoz ski area. If you want to go on a multi-day tour, you can go to the Es-cha Hut, from where you can continue to the Kesch Hut and Piz Kesch, which at 3417 m is the highest mountain in the Albula Alps. If you go off-piste, you are in unsafe terrain. It is important to pay attention to the wildlife rest areas and if you have no experience in the terrain, it is best to get a professional to help you.
