Engadin Autumn Bucket List

Larch Tracker Webcams
Are the larch trees golden yet? You can always find out the latest status via our larch tracker webcams.
In October, the larch trees in the Engadin and large parts of Graubünden are transformed into a dazzling display of golden colours. Exactly when this natural spectacle reaches its peak depends on the first frosty nights, which trigger the colour change of the needles. The larch tracker shows the current status of the colour display in real time.
1. Exploring the golden larch forests
In the warm autumn light, the Engadin reveals itself at its most beautiful, inviting you to experience the golden season in an active way. Whether on foot, by bike, or on one of the many other varied tours, every route has its own unique charm and offers special moments amid the autumn landscape. Be inspired and discover your next favourite route.

2. Exploring the Engadin in autumn by gravel bike
Hop on your gravel bike and set off! The ride follows unpaved roads and gravel trails, passing golden larch trees and impressive mountain landscapes along the way. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely ride or a more challenging tour, gravel biking is the perfect way to experience the unique atmosphere of autumn. An absolute highlight: the Inn Cycle Path!
3. Discovering the villages of the Engadin
Autumn is the ideal time of year to discover the villages of the Engadin and learn about their history. The horse-drawn carriage village tour in Sils is particularly charming, allowing you to explore the village at a leisurely pace while gaining fascinating insights into its culture and traditions.
4. High-altitude rides
For those who want to enjoy the view of the valley from above but prefer to take it easy, a ride on the cable cars will quickly take you to the most popular viewing points. By the way, if you stay in a participating hotel or holiday flat for two nights or more, the cable car ticket is included for the entire duration of your stay.

5. Early morning wildlife experience
Getting up early is worthwhile in the Engadin – especially in autumn. The morning freshness of the forest offers a stunning natural experience. With a little patience and luck, you can observe deer, stags, and other wild animals in the Val Trupchun in the Swiss National Park. An unforgettable start to the day!

6. Culinary Autumn Highlights
Attention fans of spicy game dishes: Autumn is game time! Autumnal culinary delights from local hunting tempt you in cozy pine parlors, at autumn markets and at regional culinary events. A look at our restaurants with game specialties is definitely worth it.
7. Discoveries for the whole family
A walk through nature, an exciting story to discover, and little surprises waiting around every corner. The themed trails invite you to explore together and experience autumn in a playful way. At Klapperlapapp, Switzerland’s most beautiful family festival, fairy tales come to life, making your day out a memorable one for the whole family.

8. Active experiences and good times in any weather
When clouds gather and the mountains disappear from view, Serlas Parc in S-chanf offers the perfect alternative. Its climbing hall features a variety of climbing and bouldering areas to explore, while the bowling lanes provide plenty of fun and friendly competition. A guided tour of the Engadiner Bier brewery offers an interesting behind-the-scenes look before you end the day with a delicious pizza at the restaurant.
9. Golden golfing
Switzerland's oldest golf course is offering a special golden offer in the coming weeks. Starting with the second night at one of the participating Engadin Golf Hotels, green fees are included in the package price until October 19th – unlimited and for the entire duration of your stay. Enjoy the autumn atmosphere at the popular Engadin golf courses of Samedan & Zuoz-Madulain and optionally book additional green fees for the 9-hole "Kulm Golf St. Moritz" course to perfect your short game. Welcome to the Engadin Golf Autumn!
10. Festival della Castagna
The comforting aroma of hot chestnuts, freshly roasted over an open fire, fills the air. In the Bergell valley, between the charming villages of Soglio, Bondo, and Castasegna, lie the largest chestnut groves in Europe. Each autumn, we celebrate this natural treasure during the Festival della Castagna, a three-week event dedicated to the beloved chestnut.
Wander through lively markets, savour a variety of chestnut delicacies, and deepen your knowledge through lectures and guided tours. In Bergell, the chestnut isn't just food: it's a tradition.
