Guided village tour of Madulain

The pretty village with its 230 inhabitants, the typical Engadine houses and the well-kept Romanesque everyday culture is idyllically situated on the Inn, far away from the world and in favour of the sun.

Madulain spoils inline skaters, horse riders and hikers with a variety of routes. And although the village is rather reserved, it knows how to impress: for example with the ruins of Guardaval from the 13th century, the largest castle complex in the Upper Engadine. Or its San Bartrumieu church, a tour of which is of course also part of the village tour that takes place every Monday evening in summer.

By the way: Madulain also has a ‘fun fact’ to offer! When new water pipes were laid along the Es-cha stream for the small power station in Madulain in 1979, the Madulain farmers took the opportunity to build a milk pipeline at a favourable price. They had a small pipeline laid next to the water pipe, through which the milk flows directly from the Es-cha alp to the village during the summer months. You can't get such fresh alpine milk everywhere and not all the time: throughout the summer, you can buy this fresh milk every morning and every evening in the village's Lataria, which is delivered directly from the alp to the village.
