Hiking in Celerina

Muottas da Schlarigna - Celerina
If you prefer to explore the Engadin mountains on foot, Celerina is the perfect starting point for all kinds of dream tours: from easy to difficult, from short to long, with a stroller or climbing shoes - there is something for everyone here.
From these almost unlimited possibilities, we present you four top-class hikes here.

Via Engiadina: Etappe Celerina - Bever

The famous high-altitude trail stretches for an impressive 82 km along the Engadine high valley. This means there is plenty of time for hikers to reflect on their inner self (and, thanks to the numerous alpine inns and holiday resorts along the way, on their outer self), to distance themselves from everyday life, to pause in amazement and to make rapid progress. Don't worry, we don't want to send you from Celerina to the respective end stations in Maloja or Zernez! Like every Via Engiadina section, the stage from Marguns to Samedan can be turned into a circular and high-altitude hike with great views. You can easily get to the starting point by gondola from the Marguns valley station in the village. The wide alpine trail first crosses the Munt da la Bes-cha and then - with particularly great views - the Piz Padella. After an S-bend down to the Alp Clavadatsch, the refreshing high-altitude trail leads to the Alp Muntatsch. Our tip: Before descending via Cristolais to Celerina, let the view, the small sun terrace and the homemade delicacies tempt you to take an enjoyable break.

Muottas Muragl

Stazerwald and Stazersee

Idyllic tranquility surrounds you on the paths through the picturesque Staz forest. If you choose the path to St. Moritz, sooner or later - usually after around 40 minutes of leisurely walking - it will take you to the high moor lake Lej da Staz, the Engadin bathing lake par excellence. In summer, sun-hungry bathers from all communities (and nations) frolic on its shore meadows, the delicious smell of roasted food wafts from the barbecue areas and the sun terrace of the lakeside inn is also a great place to relax. If you are still thirsty for more lake and hustle and bustle, just follow the little road to St. Moritz: Lake St. Moritz can be easily reached on foot in around 20 minutes.
