Winter fairytale Maloja

The trails in Maloja take you across the frozen lake, through snow-covered, quiet forests, over sun-drenched areas and steep slopes. And don't forget - at the end of March, Maloja marks the beginning of something great for tens of thousands of people. The start of the Engadin Ski Marathon over 21 or 42 kilometers.

The practice area couldn't be better than in Maloja. As soon as Lake Sils is frozen and covered in snow, you can glide relaxed towards Isola or Sils. The hilly trail runs parallel to it through the forest to Isola. If you turn off earlier, shortly after the first climb, past the Maloja campsite, you will come to the "La Palza" trail. An absolute favorite with everyone who already knows the trail. The trail is challenging, the scenery in the forest and past a raised moor is a dream. You often have this beautiful environment all to yourself. At the end of the circular trail, it either leads back to Lake Sils or further towards the "Orden" - an area with a sunny circular trail.

The Aela ski area was long considered an insider tip for fun away from groomed slopes. Now it is simply the insider tip for powder seekers, those seeking peace and quiet, families, nature lovers and sun worshippers. The lift is located a few meters away from the car park at Giacometti Sport. A platter lift takes skiers and snowboarders of all ages up the mountain - from 1817 meters to 2100 meters - at the top the view of Lake Sils and Lake Silvaplana and towards Val Forno is impressive. A red and a black slope lead back to the start. Freeriders take the path in between, paying attention to the wildlife rest area in the direction of travel to the left of the lift and the black slope.

There is also plenty of sunshine at the pony lift, which is not far from the Aela. Here the little ones practice their first turns and ride the drag lift. Up and down, always cheerful - as a family, you can't get enough of it. You can watch, soak up the sun and have a drink at the small restaurant. If you just need a break from skiing or snowboarding, you can swing yourself onto a sledge or a snow tubing ring. Thanks to the lift, which pulls you and your ring up the slope, children from the age of 5 can have fun snow tubing on their own. Once you get to the top, you go down the 80-meter-long snow channel. It seems like a short bit of fun, but you can experience it all the more often.
