Loro Piana

Founded in 1924, the Italian fashion company Loro Piana initially specialised in producing fine wool fabrics and yarns. Later, a clothing line, as well as leather goods and accessories for women, men, and children, expanded the range, which is sold through an international network of LP shops and upmarket retailers.

Today, Loro Piana is the world’s largest manufacturer of cashmere and the largest retailer of the finest wool. Every year, the company produces a limited edition of the finest suit fabrics made from New Zealand Merino wool. The weaving mill has held the world record for the finest spun wool fibre with a diameter of only 11.8 microns since 2005. In July 2013, the French luxury goods group LVMH acquired an 80% stake in Loro Piana for €2 billion.
