Engadin Magazine No. 14 – Vitality
There is so much we can each do to have a positive impact on our own health, happiness, and well-being. This is precisely where the Deep Health Engadin philosophy comes into play.
The Engadin is the first destination to champion this approach, developing a wide range of inspiring offerings around the concept. Make the most of comprehensive running training with a personal coach, energising and empowering singing weeks in Sils, forest bathing, or morning swims in the cool water of Lej da Staz. Our glorious nature provides the perfect backdrop for anyone looking to calmly and consciously dedicate time to themselves in the Engadin.
This edition tells stories about health, mindfulness, and sources of strength in the natural landscapes of the Engadin.

Engadin Magazine No. 13 – Time
Enjoy time in the nature of the Engadin, spend time with your loved ones, or reminisce about the old times in the traditional Stüvas. Treat yourself to a time out in the steam bath, soar through the night sky above the Engadin at lightning speed, traverse the valley on cross-country skis or enjoy a taste of home at the Latteria Maloja. The Engadin offers many ways to spend your time – indoors or outdoors, actively or mindfully, during the day or at night, alone or in company.
Our new Engadin Magazine «Time» tells various stories and takes you on a journey through our valley. Your time in the Engadin will be well spent.

Engadin Magazine No. 12 – Via
So many roads lead to … the Engadin. You can get here via twisty mountain passes at dizzying heights, nearing the beauty of this high valley region with every curve. You can cycle along a rippling river with the wind in your hair or take a stroll at a leisurely pace and enjoy the spectacular views as you go. Explore ancient trails, once used by drivers and their pack animals, or hiking routes whilst soaking up the sights and sounds of the glorious nature around you. The Engadin has something for everyone. For once, the journey truly is the goal. But then again, some who find the way up here, decide to stay forever.

Engadin Magazine No. 11 – Mountain
Winter sports fans have been heading to the sunny, snowy slopes of the Engadin for over 150 years. Muottas Muragl was actually one of the first mountains in Switzerland to become a home of winter tourism. And it’s still offering breathtaking views and exciting activities to this day along with the likes of Corviglia, Corvatsch, Diavolezza, and Pizzet.
In March 2025, you’ll even be able to watch daring jumps, flips, and kicks and fast head-to-head races against this special mountain backdrop at the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships. You can read more about what to expect at the event in this magazine (→ Page 34).
If you’re not much of a sporty type, you can focus on being captivated by our
local stories and the singing children at our traditional Chalandamarz event.

Engadin Magazine No. 10 – Air
A warm breeze rises from the depths of the Bergell up the 13 serpentines of the Maloja Pass. It is the famous Maloja wind that flows over the Engadin valley floor, turns the lakes into a paradise for water sports enthusiasts and makes the light shine. The wind carries the scent of Swiss stone pine forests and mountain flower meadows into the villages and side valleys, high up into the mountains where people train for top performances, and down onto the golf courses where the golf balls make their way. Sit back, take a deep breath and let the Engadin mountain air inspire you.

Engadin Magazine No. 9 Light
A unique light envelops the natural jewels of our high valley. Guests rave about the quiet glow, and the magical shimmer has been a source of inspiration for writers and painters for centuries. Peter Robert Berry II was one of them, who once gave up his job as a spa doctor and a promising engagement to pursue painting. At the same time, another local doctor began to use the sun to cure illnesses. If you have an acute vitamin D deficiency or are longing for one of our sun terraces, we recommend that you leaf through this magazine. The Engadin sun shines down on you from the booklet.

Engadin Magazine No. 8 - Sound
The Engadine is rich in sounds: from the gentle rustling of the Maloja wind to the tinkling of cowbells and the imposing bellowing of the deer to the mysterious sound of the Romansh language. And when your mind is saturated with the noisy impressions of the valley, then it is time for a hike to one of the romantic mountain lakes, where the silence feels big and wide. Visit us and listen to the sounds of our valley.
Engadin Magazine No. 7 - Visionary
It must be the special air in the Engadine, because the list of people who have come up with a new invention and found their source of inspiration in the valley is impressive. Winter tourism was invented here more than 150 years ago, and a little later, the fast ride on two runners. Winter has reached its latest peak with twelve world-class athletes who play on a mountain at the same time, and a glaciologist who uses music to fight against glacier retreat. A location for innovations ensures that ideas do not dry up in the future. We warmly invite you to think along. Let yourself be inspired by the power of our valley during a visit.
Engadin Magazine No. 6 - Stone
It's going to be rocky. Let yourself be captivated and inspired by the stories in this issue. They tell of a woman who has an extraordinary connection to Piz Bernina, wants to climb it and does so - which becomes a borderline experience, take you into the forest to look for mushrooms and provide the right recipe, lead you from hut to hut and portray the people who run them with passion or get to the bottom of the secrets of the king of the Alps, the ibex.
Engadin Magazine No. 5 - this vastness
In this edition, stories with foresight are waiting to amaze and delight you: They tell how the topic of freestyle developed in the Engadin, why whisky is brewed on the Corvatsch, picturesque art with a far-reaching view by Giovanni Segantini, sledding and family fun in Madulain, marveling at the vastness of the Engadin from above with a paraglider or why firn skating on the Bernina Pass is a unique experience.
Engadin Magazine No. 4 - Wood
"To be carved from good wood" - this beautiful saying goes back far into ancient times. Once, when wood was not "just" used for construction or arts and crafts, trees were considered to have a soul.
Gods or spirits lived in them and gave them inner values and their own strong nature. Countless of these special characters are at home here in the Engadin, and we have dedicated our 2021 summer edition to them. Our gnarled Swiss stone pines, firs and larches are as diverse as the Engadin and bear witness to the past, give us strength in the present and will shape the future in their very own way.
Engadin Magazine No. 3 - Magic
Black magic, freezing temperatures and no snowfall: if these conditions are met, the surface of the Engadin lakes freezes into a transparent, almost smooth surface that shines deep black in the sun. There are no snowflakes and hardly any air bubbles frozen in the so-called black ice, which makes it appear transparent. However, this natural spectacle of almost uncanny beauty is a rarity - on average it occurs twice a decade and is all the more captivating.
Our Engadin Winter 20/21 issue "Magic" has received the German Design Award Gold 2022.
Engadin Magazine No. 2 - Water
"Nothing in the world is as soft and yielding as water - and yet it conquers the hard and the strong," said Lao Tzu. The theme of water has always accompanied the Upper Engadine. That is why this issue is dedicated to the beautiful and powerful water with stories, facts, pictures and certainly one or two new things worth knowing.
Engadin Magazine No. 1 - Weiss
The color of winter; not all snow is the same - depending on the temperature and age of the snow, the cold white can feel and look completely different. For example, there is the light, airy powder snow, which is particularly popular with snow sports enthusiasts.
For powder snow to form, the temperature must be permanently below zero degrees - fortunately, this is almost normal in the Engadin winter! If there is a strong wind, the top layer of snow is compressed and a solid blanket is formed, called wind crust. And then there is the unpopular wet snow, from which the water is already running out and which often signals the end of winter.
