Samedan Summer Hikes

Samedner Sommerwanderungen Ausblick Muottas Muragl
Would you like to discover our region from new perspectives? Then you should head high! From our village, hikes branch off to the most beautiful corners of the Engadin.

Did you know that you are also in the Samedner municipality high up on the panoramic mountain Muottas Muragl? Or on your hike into the lovely Val Roseg near Pontresina? Or deep in the enchanted Val Bever? We Samedners even welcome you on the mighty Corvatsch! If you don't have a municipal map to hand (and we assume that very few people have one as part of their hiking gear...), you can often tell where you have crossed the municipal borders by the benches along the path. They have different colors and labels depending on the municipality.

Lej Muragl

This leisurely hike combines various highlights of the Engadine. From a unique view of the Bernina massif, to a clear mountain lake, to the sighting of marmots, there is a lot on offer. The ride on the funicular up to Muottas Muragl gives you an idea of the panorama that awaits you at around 2500 m above sea level - until this expectation is even exceeded on the viewing platform of the Romantik Hotel Muottas Muragl!

The signposted hike begins on the left above the panoramic path with a slight incline. Along the path and right through the high alpine landscape, there is an excellent view of the rock glacier, which slowly moves down towards the valley like a lava flow. After a good hour you reach the Lej Muragl (2715 m). If you look closely, you can even spot fish in the water. The route back downhill goes along a river over cow pastures and untouched mountain landscapes. After another hour you will reach the top station of the funicular railway again, from where you can take a leisurely ride back down into the valley after a refreshment.
