Strip Tower - Sculpture by Gerhard Richter

Strip Tower

Strip Tower

STRIP TOWER (962) from 2023 translates Gerhard Richter's work on painting, photography, digital processes, and abstraction into three-dimensional space. Based on his Strip Paintings, the sculpture consists of eight interlocking panels with brightly striped ceramic tiles, rising over five meters high and forming a cruciform interior space.
Immersed in shifting fields of color and light, the interplay of space, materiality, and the alpine landscape of Sils Maria can be experienced—a place Richter has visited regularly since 1989.
Strip Tower (962) is presented as part of "Elevation 1049," a project conceived and produced by the Luma Foundation since 2014.
Location: Cuncas meadow between the Furtschellas valley station and the shore of Lake Silvaplana.
Opening hours: Daily, 24 hours a day until spring 2029.
Admission is free.
