Wildlife rest areas

Wildlife protection zones are of the utmost importance in order to provide the animals with areas in which they can develop undisturbed. In order for the game to get through the winter well, peace and quiet is essential.

As a winter sports enthusiast, whether you are a walker, snowshoe hiker, ski tourer or freerider, please pay attention to the signposted and marked wildlife rest areas. By observing the signage, you help to ensure that the game can rest and does not waste energy unnecessarily in order to get through the harsh winter as well as possible.

The wildlife protection zones in the canton of Graubünden mainly apply to the winter months. Wildlife protection routes are always marked with red and yellow posts. The red posts are on the side of the protected area, the yellow posts indicate the “hiker” side.

Rules of conduct around wildlife protection areas

Respect wildlife rest areas and game reserves so that the game is not disturbed unnecessarily.
Stay on the paths or marked routes so that the game gets used to people.
Avoid forest edges and snow-free areas, as these are the animals' favourite places.
Keep your dogs on a lead, especially in the forest. Game is afraid of dogs running loose and wastes energy unnecessarily.

The forest is large enough to offer people and animals a place to relax and retreat.
