Verhaltenstipps Skitouren & Freeride
Whether it's flawless deep snow or untouched powder slopes, please never forget that away from the secured routes - even just a few meters away - there is "open terrain". By skiing in these areas, you are not only accepting the wonderful gift of untouched nature, but also its enormous risks. Sound knowledge of avalanche science is essential, as is tested safety equipment and, of course, an advanced level as a freerider.

Ski tourers and freeriders are out and about in unguarded terrain and are therefore exposed to alpine dangers.

Tips for ski tourers and freeriders:

  • Find out about the weather and avalanche situation
  • Never go off-piste alone
  • If you do go off-piste, do so with a trained ski instructor or mountain guide
  • Always maintain visual contact with companions
  • Always ski key sections and extremely steep slopes alone
  • Never ski in a wildlife protection zone (this will result in a fine)
  • Always switch the avalanche transceiver to send
  • Always carry a shovel and probe
  • Take into account the warming of the snow during the day and constantly re-evaluate the conditions

Disclaimer:

Walking and skiing on routes in alpine terrain requires a good level of fitness, serious preparation and technical knowledge of mountain sports. Those who follow the routes described do so at their own risk. All content is compiled with the greatest possible care. Please take these three tips to heart:

  • It's best to stay on the runs marked in yellow. If you leave these officially designated routes for deep-snow skiing, you are responsible for your own safety and must assess the risk of falling and avalanches yourself.
If you are travelling off the yellow routes, you should have completed an avalanche training course. Before every run, check the current avalanche bulletin at www.slf.ch and make sure that you have complete emergency equipment with you. LVS device, airbag, shovel.

From danger level 3 at the latest, please refrain from taking the ‘powder kick’ and stay on the secured runs!

How to increase your chances of a carefree day in the powder snow? It's quite simple: let one of our trained mountain guides or ski instructors accompany you, who will not only show you the best runs but also guide you safely through the terrain.
