World Film Days on the road: "A Sad and Beautiful World"

Nino and Yasmina are born on the same day, in the same hospital, just one minute apart, while civil war rages outside. Close friends as children, they lose touch when Yasmina moves away and don't meet again for twenty years. It's love at second sight – but their ideas about life and their shared future could hardly be more different, as their personal experiences and the country's political turmoil have left their mark. Director and screenwriter Cyril Aris stages a captivating love story against the backdrop of Beirut, unfolding over three decades and reflecting Lebanon's recent past. "A Sad and Beautiful World," 2025, Lebanon, 110 minutes. Language: Arabic with German-French subtitles. For 35 years, the World Film Days have been held annually at the Rätia Cinema in Thusis. Around 40 films from all over the world are presented, far from the mainstream. The films featured in the program aim to strengthen the global, political, and social understanding of the audience. Since 2018, the festival has toured Graubünden under the title "World Film Days on the Road" in the weeks leading up to the festival and, as always, makes a stop at the Waldhaus.
