Guided tour of the Cheva Plattas da Fex quarry

Cheva Plattas da Fex
Interesting tour through the disused, later restored quarry including a visit to the former workers' accommodation.
The old quarry at the back of the idyllic Val Fex has been given new life. The short documentary film "November Comes Surely," shown in the old stable at Alp da Segl, introduces visitors to the topic of the "giovellais" (stonemasons). Afterwards, you will hike together from Alp da Segl up to the exciting, mystical site of the old quarry "CHEVA PLATTAS DA FEX." There, surrounded by thousands of fragments of the Fex slabs from Muott'Ota, there is much to learn: stories about the people of Val Malencos and their hard lives, the formation and geology of the quarry, and the significance, extraction, and use of the Fex stone slabs. In the museum, you will see how the workers were housed and, at the collapsed tunnels, where they had dug.
