«From Bach to Boccherini»

For decades, the two musicians Robert Grossmann (baroque guitar and theorbo) and Mathias Kleiböhmer (baroque cello) have been united by their shared love of baroque music, historical performance practice, and the Italian language of melodies and harmonies. In their first duo program, they impress with their clear interpretations and precise interplay. The composers – coincidentally with the letter B – touch the ear and touch the heart. Mathias Kleiböhmer studied cello in Zurich and Bern, chamber music in Winterthur, and then baroque cello with Roel Dieltins. In 2008, he founded his own baroque orchestra, "orchester le phénix," which has performed with leading soloists, recorded various recordings, and won two ECHO awards. Kleiböhmer shares a passion for historical instruments with Robert Grossmann, a Swiss-American dual citizen who grew up in San Diego, California. In 2013, Grossmann received the Canton of Graubünden's Recognition Award in recognition of his many years of achievements as a composer, musicologist, and instrumentalist on early plucked instruments. Robert Grossmann plays lute, theorbo, mandolin, and guitar as a soloist and in various musical ensembles.
