Children's Concert: “The Toy Box” by Claude Debussy, performed by the PentAnemos Wind Quintet

What happens when toys come to life? What if a little wooden soldier falls in love with a beautiful doll—and suddenly a big fight breaks out?
“The Toy Box” (“La Boîte à joujoux”) tells just such a story—full of imagination, music, and surprises. As the PentAnemos Wind Quintet brings Debussy’s score to life, illustrations are drawn live on stage—spontaneously and poetically.
The “five winds”—the meaning behind the name “PentAnemos”—came together over 20 years ago as academy fellows of the Munich Philharmonic and the Bavarian State Opera. Today, in addition to their performances with top orchestras, they are constantly on the lookout for new ideas that go beyond the classical framework. For example, with a children’s concert based on Debussy’s musical story.
