Winter hikes without spectacular views? Not here. In the Engadin, magical winter landscapes and Alpine panoramas await you at every turn. For this, it is best to go up high - on Corviglia, Muottas Muragl or Diavolezza, for example.
Of course, you can also reach heights with great views without using a mountain railroad - for example, if you take the path high above Madulain to Alp Es-cha Dadour - and don't forget your sled for the return trip.
On Muottas Muragl, the Philosophers' Path invites you to ponder while walking along. Savor the magnificent view over the Upper Engadin. If you feel like a hot chocolate before or after your walk, you can enjoy it on the sun terrace of the Romantikhotel Muottas Muragl.
… means pure pleasure! Using mountain railroad tickets for pedestrians you reach the skiing area, which also has a lot in store for winter hikers. From Chantarella you reach the sunny plateau Salastrains, from where you can comfortably reach the restaurant Chasellas or you can gain some more altitude and climb up to the Signalbahn mountain station. From here you will reach the famous sun terrace of "El Paradiso". If you want to hike longer, take the path from Chantarella to Marguns. After two to three hours in the snow, a break at the Marguns restaurant is more than deserved.
The most important requirement for Sass Queder: good mountain boots! The short path, which starts at the mountain station Diavolezza (where an open-air Jacuzzi invites you to relax!), is only prepared with shovels from where the ski slope ends. Nevertheless, it is easy to master and also suitable for families. Once at the top, a brilliant panoramic view all the way to the Austrian Alps awaits you.
The hike to Alp Prasüra leads from the Furtschellas valley station through a snow-covered Swiss stone pine forest to the magnificent sun terrace of the rustic alpine tavern "Kuhstall". The interior of the restaurant is just as spectacular. Especially in the evening, the trip here is a real experience. Torches show the way and the fastest and most fun way to get back down is by toboggan. Sleds are available for rent.
