Horse-drawn carriage rides from Pontresina into the Val Roseg valley:
Summer: Flowering alpine meadows, a gushing clear-blue mountain stream, soaring peaks, a delightful forest, and finally the glacier panorama of the Roseg, Tschierva and Sella Glaciers – a landscape straight out of a picture-book: this is the valley of Val Roseg.
And in winter: A white wonderland awaits visitors in winter as they enter the unspoilt natural surroundings of the Roseg valley. Snow crystals sparkle and glisten in the bright sunshine. The mountains and trees are topped with white caps of snow. All is still on the trail that brings you ever closer to the world of glaciers. Now and again you might hear the bells of Wohli’s horse-drawn sleighs and the snorts of his proud heavy draught horses.
One of the nicest ways of enjoying this wonderful corner of paradise on earth is to take a horse-drawn carriage or sleigh ride through the Roseg valley up to the stylish Hotel Restaurant Roseg Gletscher. Wohli and his trusty steeds operate virtually every day both summer and winter days, from the Pontresina railway station into the valley and back again – with passengers cosily wrapped up in thick blankets and furs in winter of course. To a timetable, with the horse-drawn omnibus, or entirely ‘privately’, exclusively and according to your own wishes.
The carriages and sleighs are designed so that even children and senior citizens are able to board and alight in complete comfort; after all, a hike in the Alps is always strenuous, but it would be such a shame not to savour the stunning beauty of this landscape to the full.
