Bumper fun on the piste

Sledging / Tobogganing

Snowtubing in Maloja

To go snowtubing in Maloja, all you need is a giant inflatable ring and an appetite for fun. This is winter action at its wackiest – perfect for families and groups of friends.

What brings snow-lovers to sit in an oversized inflatable ring, dangle their legs over the bulging sides and spiral out of control down the snowy slopes? Pure joie de vivre, it seems, judging by the loud laughter and the “Wo-hooo”s that echo around the snowtubing piste in Maloja.

Slippery slope to snowy laughter

A ride on one of these squeaky, colourful rings is not dangerous – even for young children or for thrill-seekers who have already warmed themselves up on a cold winter’s day with a mulled wine. What makes the activity such fun is your sense of helplessness – together with the piste, the gradient and of course the other equally inept snowtubers. The rings revolve along with their passengers as they slide down the slope, drift randomly and bump into each other, like bumper cars at a fairground. Attempting to look cool or trying to control the snowtube is definitely not the purpose of the game. It’s all about letting go and having fun. Families and groups of friends can enjoy this wacky winter fun in Maloja, right by the beginner lift. Even though snowtubing poses little danger, helmets are obligatory, just in case – prevention is better than cure. Visitors who do not have their own can comfortably hire from Giacometti Sport in Maloja.
