Cross country skiing in the “heart” region

Cross country skiing in Samedan

Samedan
Cross country skiing in the “heart” region

The Upper Engadin cross-country skiing paradise takes place on several levels: in the valley floors, in the mountains and on the frozen mountain lakes. On the territory of Sameden a fine triangle extends of cross-country skiing with about 84 km for all levels. The highlight of the “heart” region is the "aorta" of the cross-country skiing network: the 42 km marathon course between Maloja and S-chanf, where the Engadin Skimarathon has been attracting cross-country skiing fans all over the world since 1969.

Cross-country skiing tip 1: Promulins Arena - Gravatscha - Innauen - Bever - Promulins Arena (difficulty level: easy, approx. 1h)

The approximately 7.5 kilometer long circular trail on the tracks of the women's race Engadin Skimarathon, the river recultivations around Inn and Flaz and the Engadin Skimarathon. A route for mind and legs!

Cross-country skiing tip 2: Pontresina - Val Roseg (difficulty level: medium, approx. 1h)

In the wildly romantic side valley near Pontresina, pure nature surrounds the runner. 7.5 kilometers of freshly groomed tracks lead from the Pontresina train station into the valley over gently rising winter meadows and through deeply snow-covered larch forests. The purely classic route is lined on both sides by the gentle giants Piz Tschierva and Piz Corvatsch and follows the course of the river Ova da Roseg. The cross-country skier always sets course for the Hotel Restaurant Roseg Glacier, where the view of further imposing peaks of the Bernina Group finally opens up. If the snow conditions as well as your own energy reserves allow it, the approximately 2.5 km long extension of the cross-country trail in the direction of the icy glacier lake Lej da Vadret is an option from here. You can return to Pontresina on the tracks of the outward route - or quite comfortably in a horse-drawn sleigh from the Roseg Glacier Restaurant.

Cross-country skiing tip 3: Punt Muragl -Zuoz (difficulty level: easy, approx. 1:15h)

The wonderfully relaxing route corresponds to part of the marathon cross-country ski run and scores points for its flat and low-curve routing. From Punt Muragl at the foot of the panoramic mountain Muottas Muragl, you start in the direction of the Samedan airfield, where the whole magnificent expanse of the Plaiv stretches out before you. From Chamues-ch you have the "effort" behind you, because now you are always gliding slightly downhill to the cross-country skiing center in Zuoz.

Cross-Country Skills Park

In the beautiful area of the golf lakes lies the Cross-Country Cross Skills Park for young and old. Here children, teenagers and adults can playfully develop their conditional and technical skills while completing 16 stations. The various exercises and elements such as pedal organ, wave troughs or pole forest are explained on boards along the course. The Cross-Country Skills Park is groomed daily from mid-December to March.

Dog trail Samedan

Dog lovers can now also take their loved ones out on the cross-country ski trail in the heart Region. The 4.1 km long circular trail in the valley between Samedan and Bever has skating and classic tracks. The entry points are at the start of the trail in Promulins or from Gravatscha at the car park of the Restorant Piste 21.
