Summer Bucket List

10 Tips for the perfect Samedner Summer

Samedan
Summer Bucket List

Certainly, our protagonists, these are our mountains and the magnificent alpine landscape around our village. But what would Samedner vacations be without the numerous "icings on the cake"? Without culture, wellness, sports or hiking? That you can experience and enjoy all this (and of course much more) with us, we show you with our summer highlight list:

1. Mineral bath & Spa

A bathing jewel in the Engadin - bathing between heaven and earth, church and mountains. Let yourself be carried away into another world by the uniquely mystical atmosphere. Situated in the middle of the historic village center and attached to the listed church, Switzerland's first vertical mineral bath impresses with its unique architecture by Miller & Maranta alone. Due to the vertical arrangement of the various baths on three floors, the bathing experience truly "grows" beyond itself - until you can finally admire the alpine panorama high above from the outdoor pool directly under the church tower. Bathing is done in mineral water from our own spring, which is taken directly from under the building at a depth of 35 meters. www.mineralbad-samedan.ch

2. Disc Golf

The idyllically situated 12-basket course from Muntarütsch is built along the lines of the Vita course. You don't have to be a professional to play disc golf - the desire to move in nature and the interest to try something new is enough! Disc rental: at Samedan Tourist Information, T 081 851 00 60 (note opening hours), prices: CHF 3/disc (deposit CHF 50 to be paid), disc reservation recommended.

3. Interactive crime fun

Interactive crime fun - Trackless (D/R)

Only a few days left until the grand finale! Switzerland is eagerly awaiting the election of the new "Miss Sympathy". The anticipation is great, the tension is rising - but then the final preparations are overshadowed by a mysterious incident: Tamara Koch - one of the candidates - disappears without a trace! Has she gone into hiding to escape the hype? Or has something happened to her? Was she the victim of a crime? Take up the investigation and find the girl! But time is running out, because soon the big show will be on and the words "And the winner is…" will ring out from the TV sets. On the 2.8 kilometer long walk from the Samedan Tourist Information Around Samedan, 11 posts must be found. Participation is free of charge, but registration at www.krimi-spass.ch/samedan is necessary. All you need for the trail is an Internet-enabled smartphone, and a full battery or power pack is an advantage. It is also advisable to have paper and writing materials with you. Duration approx. 2 hours, suitable for strollers, 11 puzzle posts. Start of the tour at Samedan Tourist Information, T 081 851 00 60.

3. Samedner "culTour" in three stations

Station 1: The historic watchtower La Tuor is already 800 years old and yet has remained enviably young: True to its motto "Future has origins", it is a cultural antenna for the then, the now and the future. In its museum, you can learn more about cultural creativity in the Engadin, from art, music, architecture, crafts to design.

Station 2: The Chesa Planta Samedan is home to an important library with Engadin collections and estates as well as the Museum of Living Culture. Our tip: Don't forget to pay a visit to the historic garden with the pretty pavilion from 1855, www.chesaplanta.ch.
The premises of the Chesa Planta are also home to the Upper Engadine Culture Archive, a public institution that archives documents from estates on art, architecture, language, music, natural history and the culture of the Upper Engadine and the surrounding regions.

Station 3: For over thirty years, art has been exhibited in the rooms of the old village bakery from the 17th century. Performance artists also find a distinctive stage in the "Kunstraum Riss".

Water adventure trail
The new course of the river Flaz resulted in the circular trail Inn-Flaz-Flaz Vegl-Inn, which is known as a water trail and surprises with digital information in addition to the information boards at every bench and bridge. 8.8 km long, duration approx. 2.5 hours, suitable for strollers. Digital village tour
If you want to feel at home in the Engadine, we advise you to set up your headquarters in the Krone in Samedan. This is what the German writer and poet Joseph Viktor von Scheffel said about Samedan in 1850. The Krone inn no longer exists, but there are several other hotels, numerous vacation apartments and much to experience. On our interactive village tour you will learn how Samedan has developed over the course of history to become a center and traffic hub, as well as a lot of historical and current information. The 2.2-kilometer-long tour and the 49-meter difference in altitude will take you about 40 minutes to complete, and about the same amount of time to visit the 29 stations on the tour. We wish you much pleasure and thirst for knowledge. Scan the QR code in the display case at the train station and start your virtual tour.

7. Horse carriage ride to Val Roseg

Why not take a trip by horse-drawn carriage to the picturesque Val Roseg? The car-free road winds leisurely upwards, crosses the Ova da Roseg twice and finally ends at 2,000 m.a.s.l. at the Hotel Restaurant Roseg Gletscher. What many people don't know is that the Roseg enclave belongs to the municipality of Samedan and is probably the most visited valley in Samedan. In addition to the extraordinary nature, the best known dessert buffet can be enjoyed here on the sun terrace of the restaurant.

9. Excursion with the steam locomotive

It hisses, steams and chugs: with the power of fire and water, the RhB steam locomotive pulls the red nostalgic cars through the railroad country of Grisons. What began in 1889 with the opening of the train line from Landquart to Klosters is today a 384-kilometer-long rail network in the middle of the Swiss high mountains. Immerse yourself in the historic world of the steam age and experience a piece of railroad history up close in the Grisons mountains - naturally in true style with sound and smoke.

10. Bounce, bounce, hooray!

A day full of action and fun in the bouncy castle fun park should not be missing from any family to-do list. Because having fun, playing and indulging in pure pleasure is as much a part of a family vacation as the mountains are to the Engadin. The Funpark is open every day - even in rainy weather, because in case of suboptimal weather it is set up in the multipurpose hall next door. And don't forget your bathing suit: The big water slide and the paddle pool offer refreshing variety for bouncing aerial acrobats.
