At the very back of the Fex valley, in a wild and romantic place, lies this small museum. After the quarry - "la ganda" - was abandoned in 1965, it had become quiet there, very quiet. And since this little spot of earth is also a wild asylum in winter, the small huts were only rarely visited in summer and mostly only by hunters.
The centuries-old extraction of the beautiful Fexer plates was almost forgotten forever. But some Silsers did not want to lose this important historical period for Fex and Sils and strove to save this cultural treasure. With success: today the museum in the stable next to Alp da Segl is open daily in summer.
The Alp da Segl can be reached on foot from Sils Maria in about 2 hours, from the Hotel Fex in about 15 minutes. You can also reach the Hotel Fex by horse-drawn carriage or horse-drawn bus. Good shoes are recommended.
If you would like to visit the quarry house, the tunnel entrances and learn more about this exciting time with the film "November is sure to come", take part in one of our guided tours.
