Atelier Turo Pedretti (1896-1964)
Turo Pedretti’s paintings captures emotions and moods through an intensive experience of the landscape. The light of the Engadin takes centre stage. The expressionist/fauvist artist paints daring and extremely colourful paintings. His work follows in the footsteps of his illustrious predecessors from the valley: Giovanni Segantini and his sponsor Giovanni Giacometti. His studio showcases selected paintings and the film Turo Pedretti, sein Lebenswerk und das Engadin [Turo Pedretti, his life work and the Engadin].

Turo Pedretti is considered as a great painter of the night. He shares his expressive colour palette with Edvard Munch and Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. Turo Pedretti captured light and shadow in their atmospheric appearance with a daring lightness that makes his paintings an immediate, sensual experience of his perception of nature.
The Expressionist/Fauvist paints bold and extremely colourful paintings in which the unique Engadine light plays a central role. Pedretti's studio shows selected pictures as well as Roy Oppenheim's film "Turo Pedretti, his life's work and the Engadin".
