Even if you climbed Muottas Muragl just to zip downhill again on the famous toboggan run, the magnificent view will cast its spell over you for several magic moments … but then you are good to go! The legendary toboggan run starts right next to the summit station: With 20 tricky corners to negotiate and a vertical drop of 718 metres over a distance of more than 4 kilometres, it promises a wonderfully thrilling adrenalin blast. Since the thrill should always be fun, too, the slogan “safety first” is the best guarantee of a carefree outing and riders need to wear a helmet.
On the wide mountainsides of Muottas Muragl you will also find beautifully unspoilt winter landscapes. Marked snowshoe trails for beginners and skilled hikers guide those who seek peace and quiet into a perfectly snowy stillness where they can indulge in an intense experience of nature. Those who prefer to listen to the snow crunching under their feet while they stroll along the prepared winter hiking trails and admire the deluxe alpine panorama , can choose between easy and active trails. The three versions (easy, intermediate and demanding) of the Philosopher’s Trail, for example, invite them to hike and ponder over the wisdoms depicted on the route markers along the way.
Naturally, “great hiking” is right at the top of the list of the best summer pleasures on Muottas Muragl. Each route of the extensive network of rambling trails is accompanied by a spectacular view, on both sides of the paths lush pastures stretch for miles and nifty marmots always keep an eye on the merry hikers. Those who want to add a relaxing culinary break to this hiking happiness find the perfect box seats in this alpine arena on the sun terraces of the Romantik Hotel, Alp Languard or the famous Segantini Hut.
Season your alpine experience with a pinch of sport and a pinch of freedom and you create a truly adventurous way to spend your time on Muottas Muragl: between July and the end of August, you will find around 15 orienteering checkpoints (no fixed installations and without time measurement) set up. Due to their location at more than 2,000 metres above sea level, they are also perfect for altitude training. The orienteering map can be purchased at the valley station; the route begins right by the summit station.
You also may opt for a slightly different overview of the topography of Muottas Muragl and its surroundings by gently gliding over it like a bird. After taking off at the launch site next to the summit station you can – both in summer and in winter – discover the glistening lakes, impressive mountainsides and miniature villages from a whole new perspective.
