Here, the little ones are in for a big surprise! Thanks to several playgrounds, an enchanting lake hike in the company of a goblin and a mountain fairy, and a cheerful family barbecue at 2300 metres above sea level, a day on Corvatsch-Furtschellas is always filled with blissful variety!
The fun begins at the middle stations Murtèl and Furtschellas where little summiteers can romp around happily on the spacious playgrounds. While the gang of little rascals are thus well taken care of, their parents can relax on the sun terrace, enjoying a cup of coffee and homemade cake.
In summer, especially the middle station Furtschellas at 2312 metres turns into a dream destination for kids: in the petting zoo trusting dwarf goats, fluffy rabbits and cackling chickens await young animal lovers.
Please be informed that due to the Corona situation, the petting zoo at Furtschellas will remain closed in summer 2020. The animals will spend the summer in the valley.
Do you prefer a more culinary approach to your mountain experience? On the panoramic terrace of the cosy mountain restaurant La Chüdera you can catch some (or rather: a lot!) of sun and savour the regional cuisine. A barbecue at one of the two fire sites along the entertaining Water Trail to the “6 Lejins” (Romansh for: 6 lakes) offers an even closer touch with nature. Those who feel like celebrating a cheerful barbecue feast with friends & family can purchase barbecue food like bratwursts and cervelats at La Chüdera. The barbecue sites – one of them overlooking the Engadin lakes, the other situated at the lake shore of Lejin Rhodonit – are equipped with tables, benches, cooking grids and firewood. By the way, the small Lejin Rhodonit is one of the six “lejins”. For those who are eager to learn more about them we strongly recommend the booklet «Plitsch and Platsch with the mountain fairy Mara and the goblin Furbaz” (available free of charge at the Furtschellas valley and summit station.
Staying overnight at the SAC hut Chamanna Coaz is a real high alpine experience for the whole family. The beautifully varied mountain trail from Corvatsch-Murtèl via Fuorcla Surlej is only gently ascending and therefore equally suitable for adults and children. You will reach the hut after approximately 3 to 4 hours of hiking and even allowing for several short breaks. A colourful bouquet of family-friendly activities will inspire many memorable holiday moments: aside from great hiking destinations in the vicinity, a slackline right next to the hut also provides youthful action as well as climbing crags and a glacier activity trail to mountain lakes, giant’s kettles and a glacier mouth – all in front of the magnificent backdrop of the Bernina massif. The weather isn’t playing along? Why not browse the library that also provides lots of games for cosy evenings in the hut?
For kids, winter quite simply stands for snow and fun! For beginners, we recommend the Furtschellas ski region with its wide varied slopes, located far away from the hustle and bustle. Here, young piste riders can really live it up while the adults enjoy a relaxed downhill run. For those who venture to ski for the first time, the Cristins children’s ski lift in Surlej is the perfect place to start. Cristins’ simple but superbly prepared slope is situated just a snowball’s throw away from the Corvatsch railway valley station.
The winter temperatures drop below zero, but you still need to work on your coolness? Then maybe you should polish your freestyle tricks. The four lines of the Corvatsch Park are the perfect training ground for both beginners and pros. After the technique practice and if you are up for some extra fun and action, you really should try out the «Fun Ride»-slope: this fun ride of 500 metres with waves, steep turns, little jumps and tables is located to the left of the Corvatsch Park at the chairlift Mandra and guarantees creative challenges off the perfectly prepared pistes.
