As a wise man said: The journey is the destination. This traditional wisdom fits perfectly with the hiking suggestions for pleasure-seekers. Whether up on the mountains, in the valley floor or through fairytale forests: on these paths you will find peace and quiet.
Once you arrive at Alp Languard, the choice is up to you: you can either take the challenging tour to a mountain hut or a leisurely hike on the Paradis round. On this hike, you will be accompanied by an incredible view of the Bernina massif, curious marmots and maybe even an ibex. Tip: read the humorous anecdotes of the Pontresina gamekeeper Daniel Godli on the information boards along the benches.
The vastness, the light and the view across Lake Sils towards Maloja will take your breath away right from the start of this walk. The path across the peninsula of Chastè offers fascinating spectacles of clouds and sun, the sound of the waves and the scent of the mountain forest. Take a detour to the Nietzsche memorial stone and enjoy the view before strolling leisurely across the large plain back to Sils.
This leisurely tour is the perfect way to end the day with a highlight. From the Surlej bridge, the trail leads past Lej Ovis-chel, through the forest to the panoramic waterfall over Lake Silvaplana. A breather with this view is a must. The route then takes a leisurely stroll past Crap da Sass Castle back down into the valley to the starting point.
A relaxed hike on the valley floor, accompanied by the soothing sound of golf irons hitting golf balls. The tour starts and ends at the village square in Chamues-ch and leads past the Romanesque church of San Andrea into the woods towards Zuoz. After short ascents and descents with views of the golf course, the route continues to Madulain, where you pass picturesque Engadin houses before returning to Chamues-ch through the fields.
Lej da Staz is the Engadin’s most famous swimming lake - popular with locals and visitors alike. This relaxing hike leads from St. Moritz station along the lake to the picturesque Lej da Staz. The peaceful view, the laughing children and the sizzling barbecues invite you to linger and take a dip in the fresh water. Once you've recharged your batteries, you can walk through the peaceful Stazerwald forest to Celerina or Pontresina and take the Rhaetian Railway or bus back to St. Moritz.
The hike starts in Chamues-ch and brings you into the picturesque Val Chamuera. The barbecue sites along the Ova da Chamuera invite you to linger while you are reaching the destination of the hike: the imposing Alp Serlas at 2,016 metres above sea level. Turn round at the historic 19th century building and make your way back to Chamues-ch.
The hike to a hidden gem in the lower part of the Upper Engadin. From Chapella you can reach Susauna on foot, by bike or even by car. Once in Susauna, a natural road leads down into the valley. The babbling Valember accompanies you on the hike up the valley. On the way, you will learn about the last bear kill in this valley from a sign. The path becomes steeper at Alp Pignaint - the end of the tour. Ambitious hikers can continue up to Alp Funtauna or even as far as the Kesch hut.
