"You don´t know what you want to read? Read everything Elisabeth Edl has translated," recommends literary critic Andreas Isenschmid.

Originally from Austria, Elisabeth Edl began translating the great French literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, from Simone Weil to Julien Green, Patrick Modiano, Philippe Jaccottet and Stendhal, with great success during her years at the university in Poitiers (1983 to 1995). Her Flaubert translations ("Madame Bovary", "Lehrjahre der Männlichkeit", "Drei Geschichten") are the focus of this year´s SRF Kulturklub literary seminars on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the great novelist´s birth and in the conversation that Dr. Arthur Godel will hold with the multiple award-winning Elisabeth Edl and her husband, the literary scholar Wolfgang Matz.
