In the tenth year of the Sils Choir Weeks, there is also a promising new programme: a choir week dedicated to baroque music and conducted by a renowned baroque specialist. George Frideric Handel spent a large part of his life composing in London. This new choir week is dedicated to his most beautiful choruses from the oratorios Messiah, Saul and Alexanders Feast as well as the operas Xerxes and Ariodante. The singing will be in German, English and Latin. Anyone who loves festive baroque music and has always wanted to sing with a baroque ensemble is in the right place this week. In the final concert we will be accompanied by musicians from the New Sagittarius Consort Zurich, the baroque ensemble founded by Alexander Seidel in 1995.
