Rockfalls not only in the mountains but in the sea: Examples from the geological past of the Engadin

The public lecture sheds light on fossil underwater rockfalls and uses examples from the Engadine region to show how such breccias reveal geological history.

As part of the Laudenbach GEO Talks, Prof. Dr. Christian Dullo (GEOMAR, Kiel) will provide fascinating insights into the early geological development of the Engadine region, when it was still covered by a sea. Using breccias such as the Alv and Saluver breccias, he will demonstrate how fossil rockfalls reveal Earth's history and tectonic processes.

The lecture is aimed at interested guests without prior knowledge and offers a vivid overview of the region's geological history.

Time: Doors open: 7:30 p.m., Lecture begins: 8:00 p.m.
