Guided tours of the Parkhotel Margna.

The former patrician house of the Engadin confectioner Johann Josty and the other hotel buildings have 59 rooms, which have been modernly renovated in pine wood. Antique furniture and paintings can be found in the public rooms. The initials JJ are above the main entrance. These go back to Johann Josty, who was born in Sils in 1773. As a young man, he emigrated to Magdeburg, where he completed an apprenticeship as a confectioner. He then founded Johann Josty & Co. in Berlin. After Josty's death, Johannes Badrutt, founder of the Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz, bought the house and used it as a residential home. Josty's family home from 1817 underwent several major extensions on the way to becoming today's Parkhotel Margna; the most important were in 1905/06 and 1913/14 by the renowned architect Nicolaus Hartmann Jr. From autumn 2019 to December 2021, the hotel was extensively renovated with investments of 26 million francs. Simona and Luzi Seiler have been managing the traditional hotel since spring 2017. The property in the plain between Lake Sils and Lake Silvaplana is clearly visible with the golden turret on the main building. The Hotel Margna is named after the 3,159 meter high Piz da la Margna, which towers over Sils and the upper Engadine in a distinctive and characterful way.
