Open Doors Engadin - Chesa Orlandi

Open Doors Engadin - Chesa Orlandi

Führungen durch die Chesa Orlandi mit Yves Guidon.

The Chesa Orlandi - a "high" house on the edge of the village in Bever with a farm and guesthouse - is one of Switzerland's cantonal monuments of art.

The restoration of the four-storey patrician house has led to new insights into the building history of the house and revived the career of a successful "Randolins family". The stately house owes its name to its builder, Junker Giachem da Niculin Orlandi (1782 - 1845), who owned and farmed his own communal land from Bever to the border with Italy.

Orlandi, born in Dresden, was probably the architect himself. His ancestors had emigrated to Breslau, Vienna and Dresden via Augsburg in the 18th century. From there he returned to the Engadin in 1804 to take over his father's farm. Today, Chesa Orlandi still includes a farm with over 30 head of cattle and a vegetable garden.

Guided tours at 2pm and 4pm, maximum 12 people per tour. Meeting point: in front of the house, outside by the entrance.
