Open Doors Engadin 2024 - Chesa cumünela Sils Maria

Sils i.E.
Based on notes, it is assumed that the Chesa Cumünela was one of the buildings that Johannes Badrutt Sr., the master builder and father of the hotelier, had built in Sils in the 1840s and 50s.

These included the Fonio house and the Chesa Matossi (Courtin), as well as the canalization of the Fedacla from the village square to Lake Silvaplana. It is surprising, but also regrettable, that this very prominently located house in the center of Sils Maria is not better documented in terms of its architectural history. This means that the text presented here must be viewed as a "state of error." The good news is that a book is in the works that will remove this flaw. Free viewing: Saturday + Sunday open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During opening hours (only the mezzanine floor). Not barrier-free.
