As creative director at Jakob Schlaepfer for many years, Martin Leuthold designed precious fabrics for fashion designers and clients around the world. Since 2018 he has been a freelance designer, among others for Origen and various artisans.
He gets his inspiration in museums, through art and culture, and - very importantly - the nature around him. It has the right scale for many things. At the Origen cultural festival, Leuthold lets artistic director Giovanni Netzer tell him the stories for the new productions. And he draws inspiration from the location, the rugged mountain landscape. His designs are about interpreting these stories, not imitating them.
Martin Leuthold travels to the Engadine with a small suitcase full of fabrics and materials and talks about his creative process.
