Torriani grew up in St. Moritz. In 1945 he won a talent competition, which was followed by engagements throughout Europe. In the 1950s and 1960s, he appeared mainly in musical films, operettas and musicals. From the 1970s onward, the trained chef shone in television programs by presenting his cooking skills while singing.
