Forewords: A Literary Salon at TableauX Vivant

Even before TableauX Vivant opens its doors in September 2026, its story begins with two special literary evenings. With "VorWorte" (Prefaces), a new event series is being created in the Upper Engadine that understands literature as an encounter – between the creators of books (including publishers, authors, editors, and translators) and the public.

The series kicks off with actress, director, and author Adriana Altaras in S-chanf. As a member of the SRF Literaturclub (Swiss Radio and Television Literature Club), she is one of the most prominent literary voices in the German-speaking world. With her books, her theater work, and her distinctive blend of humor, depth, and clever self-irony, she has been captivating a wide audience for many years.

First Evening
A Passion for Reading – Discovering Books Which books particularly moved Adriana Altaras last year? Which novels are must-reads? Adriana Altaras presents her personal literary discoveries, talks about her work on the SRF Literaturclub, and offers an entertaining and personal perspective on one of Switzerland's most renowned literary programs. In the subsequent discussion with Cornelia Schwab, the audience is warmly invited to ask questions and engage in conversation with Adriana Altaras about literature, writing, and her personal reading recommendations.

Second Evening
Reading and Discussion On the second evening, Adriana Altaras will read from her successful books, including "Tito's Glasses," "Doitscha," "A Jewish Mother Speaks Out," "Better Alone Than in Bad Company," and "The Sea and I Were at Our Best." She will discuss her life between Croatia, Italy, and Germany, her origins, language, family, and the power of literature to transcend boundaries and open up new perspectives. In the subsequent discussion with Cornelia Schwab and the audience, she will share the stories behind her books, her work as an author and director, and the biographical experiences that shape her writing. Personal, insightful, and with subtle humor, this evening will be far more than a typical author reading.

The new TableauX Vivant (formerly Puntschellina) opens one hour before the event and invites you to a small reception. After the event, you can also enjoy a casual aperitif and round off the evening.
