German filmmaker Birgitta Ashoff presents two film portraits of artists: on 11.01. the documentary on Tamara Lempicka and on 13.01. on Georgia O´Keeffe.
For the high society of Hollywood, for the doormen of the "Ritz" in Paris or the Grand Hôtel de Monte-Carlo, she was the beautiful Polish baroness Tamara de Lempicka. In the late 1920s, the artist was considered the best-paid painter in Europe.

Young and provocatively elegant, between 1925 and 1935 she conquered all the beautiful women and rich men that the Années Folles in Paris had to offer. In a grandiose Art Deco studio on Montparnasse, she gave frivolous parties - and painted her famous portraits.  They are elegant and erotic pictures of modern, sporty women - a «car portrait» with a sleek cap in a sports coupé, nudes of women and men with whom she had affairs. She depicts people who have the courage to cool self-stylisation - and thus captures an actual attitude to life in society between the two world wars. Lempicka´s work - reproduced millions of times on posters, fashion and stage publications.
