The church of San Peter Samedan was first mentioned in a document in 1139. At that time, the church was sold by the Counts of Gammertingen to the Bishop of Chur. The church tower dates from this time and is dated around 1100. The current nave, built in the late Gothic style, including the polygonal choir, was built in 1491/92. Archaeological investigations in 2017 uncovered the remains of walls from a previous church. Do these foundations date back to the Carolingian period?
