«Tales of a Tree» St. Moritz

«Tales of a Tree» St. Moritz

In a year marked by the distance between one another, St. Moritz is setting an example and presenting the Christmas projection show Tales of a Tree.

In cooperation with the international animation director from St. Moritz, Oliver Conrad, a multi-layered film was created for children and adults that tells the heartwarming story about a Christmas tree. From 6 December 2020 to 7 January 2021, this film will be projected onto the façade of the town hall after dark.

The façade of the St. Moritz town hall was deliberately included in the creation of the narrative in order to give the impression at times that the building is, for example, a ski slope or the sky. At the centre of the ?Tales of a Tree? projection is a small Christmas tree that is actually fixed to the façade of the town hall, and all the action revolves around the tree. Partly narrative, partly abstract, the audience accompanies an angel on an adventurous day through St. Moritz. The witty and humorous dialogue between the animations and the real tree is accompanied by well-known St. Moritz photos, giving the audience a new perspective on them. Elaborate animations and accompanying music breathe life into the images and lift the narrative to a new level.

Showing for one month
The roughly 30-minute-long film ?Tales of Tree? will be shown several times a day after dark between 17:00 and 22:00 from 6 December 2020 to 7 January 2021. This means that spectators do not have to be at Mauritiusplatz in front of the town hall at one specific time, which will offer enough space for social distancing.
