The Beverin is the first river to be awarded the "Water Pearl PLUS" label. The municipality of Bever is breaking new ground. Of the 64 water pearls in Switzerland - twelve of them in Graubünden - it is the first to take this step and, with the label, commits itself to continue caring for the Beverin.
The river, which is worthy of protection, rises below the Piz d'Agnel at the very back of the Val Bever at around 2900 metres above sea level. It is wild and untouched over long stretches. The Beverin finds its way into the mountain valley of Val Bever through rocky gorges. Surrounded by alluvial landscapes and fens, the natural and powerful mountain stream is a habitat for a wealth of rare animal and plant species - even the otter crosses here!
