The Bernina Glaciers experience includes the highest summits in the Eastern Alps and the expansive glacier landscape of Grisons. The alpine mountain landscape around the 4,4049-metre high Piz Bernina fascinates visitors with the moraines of the Morteratsch, Roseg, Tschierva and Pers glaciers and the striking mountain summits. There are around a dozen four thousand-metre peaks competing for attention, including the mighty Piz Palü, Piz Cambrena, Bellavista, Crest‘ Agüzza Piz Scerscen and all the rest.
The spectacular panorama can be well-reached and experienced close up by day guests and normal hikers. There are various mountain huts that offer simple places to sleep close to the glacier world. The expert guides at the Pontresina Mountaineering School offer guided glacier hikes, tours and climbing courses.
Further highlights include the Glacier Experience Trail, a circular route from the Diavolezza mountain station down to the moraine of the Pers Glacier, and the Virtual Reality Glacier Experience at the visitor centre by the valley station of the Diavolezza railway, where guests can learn about the creation, past and future of our high-alpine glacier world in an interactive manner.
