Via Energia themed trail: how water is turned into power
How is water turned into power? How can power drive a locomotive? And where does the electricity in my plug come from? You’ll find answers to these questions and many more along the Via Energia.
The themed trail at the Bernina Glaciers experience goes from the Ospizio Bernina station down to Cavaglia in the upper Val Poschiavo. Eleven carefully prepared information boards explain various energy-related themes on the two to three hour hike through the high-alpine landscape. Informative texts, 3D graphics, quiz questions and digital animations, which can be accessed via QR codes, ensure an entertaining hike. Large parts of the trail go along the UNESCO Bernina line of the Rhaetian Railway. Families can go on an adventure with “Pluschin” and discover the secrets of how power is generated from water. The corresponding children’s book is available from the tourist information offices in Pontresina and Poschiavo. Children who solve the puzzle will receive a small surprise. A further highlight is the heart-shaped Lago Palü, a deep turquoise glacier lake. Afterwards you can travel back on the red train, for example to Pontresina.
