Bernina Glaciers - the grisons glacier experience

The Bernina Glaciers experience includes the most significant glacier region in the canton of Grisons and is home to the highest mountain summits in the Eastern Alps - Piz Bernina, Piz Palü and Piz Roseg. Between Pontresina, the Val Poschiavo and along the UNESCO Bernina line of the Rhaetian Railway there is a wealth of breathtaking panoramas, agricultural attractions and a wide range of experiences.

Located in the heart of the alpine adventure region are the Diavolezza viewing platform, easy access to the Morteratsch Glacier, the themed trail and the glacial mills near Cavaglia. Everything is connected by the elements of water, ice, energy and the traces of time that have been left behind in this landscape.

All of the sights can be easily and individually explored via hop-on/hop-off on the small red train line – the “Trenino Rosso” as the Rhaetian Railway is called in Italian. The train journey on the wonderful route where you can explore the glaciers and enjoy “gelato” on the Poschiavo piazza is itself an attraction. While on the go between changing landscape and climate zones and travelling beyond cultural and language boundaries, you’ll find a variety of hiking and biking routes, rustic huts, guesthouses and hotels, regional dishes and the typical south Grisons hospitality.
