As if Mother Nature had grabbed giant cans of paint and poured them with zeal over the Engadin forests. Such a boisterous feast of colours covers the mountain sides. Such a magnificent gold, red and yellow fashion show of the trees’ festive clothing. And – quite literally – on top of that, the sun tries to outshine this luminous display and thereby turns each Engadin autumn excursion into a dream tour.
Autumn holidays in the Engadin are real mood boosters. After all, what could be lovelier than hiking or biking through our magnificent alpine nature and taking deep breaths of fresh mountain air scented by rich leaves and harvest? Our extensive network of hiking and biking trails – a.k.a. the Engadin “walk-in and drive-through” – lead across mountain sides, through valleys and historic village centres and along scenic lakes.
In other words: there is room and nature for everybody. And not only for bikers and hikers themselves but also for consideration and respect because Engadin trails are fair trails.

«The world turned golden …»
… are the first words of the beautiful poem «Autumn» by Christian Morgenstern, words that perfectly describe autumn in the Engadin. An autumn with air that is sweet with the scent of fresh hay waiting to be harvested one last time, with the scent of ripe fruit still hanging from the trees. An autumn that colours the forest on the mountain sides so brilliantly golden-orange-red that it resembles streams of lava rolling towards the valley floor. An autumn with warm days that we love to spend being active in the nature that invigorates us. An autumn with cool evenings that invite us to sit down at a crackling chimney fire inside of a cosy inn. Oh, it’s simply wonderful, this Endadin autumn!
At the beginning of autumn, the golden larches shine with the white mountain peaks and the deep blue Engadin sky and invite you to go hiking. For example through the Stazerwald, which is accessible through a dense network of paths. In addition to larches and mountain pines, you can find some of the years in the upper part of Gott Plazzers, over 1000 Swiss pines in Graubünden. However, the moor landscape is also unique, one of the right opportunities in the entire Alpine region. The pine jay is a noticeable feature of the Engadin forests.
